About Dr. Ahlers

Dr. Ahlers completed her residency in Psychiatry at Georgetown University Hospital, a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), medical school at Ross University, a MS Degree in chemical engineering at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), and BS Degree in Chemistry at Georgetown University (proud alum CAS '94).  She has extensive training in: psychopharmacology, women’s mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, and college mental health.  She has experience treating adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

She is board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Ahlers is on the medical staff of the Inova Fairfax Hospital and maintains a private practice in northern Virginia (Falls Church City).  She serves on the faculty of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences as a clinical instructor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences.   She has a research background across multiple scientific disciplines, including psychiatry, medical informatics, engineering, and chemistry.  Prior to entering the field of medicine, Dr. Ahlers enjoyed her previous career as an engineer in the high-tech industry.

 

Dr. Ahlers is a mother to 3 beautful daughters - who very much inspire her work -- particularly that involving the adolescent population.
